2010 European BLIA YAD Spring Camp
~ Bodhisattva’s Heart, Youth’s Strength ~
1. Objective:
To promote the learning and growth of Buddhist youth;
To encourage the communication between Buddhist youth;
To broaden the ambition and mind of Buddhist youth;
To foster the religious attitude of Buddhist youth.
2. Organizer: European Fo Guang Shan

Co-Organizer: BLIA YAD European Subdivisions; BLIA European Regional Divisions; European Fo Guang Shan Temples.
3.Time: 06 April 2010 (Tue) registration to be completed by 12:00pm ~ 09 April 2010 (Fri) 2:00pm

5. Eligibility: 15-35 year old members of BLIA YAD European Regional Subdivisions
6. Content: Dharma Lecture, Activities on Team Challenge, Adventure Activities - Zip wiring and High Low Ropes Adventure Courses, BLIA YAD Adulthood Ceremony, Group Discussion, Experience sharing and Buddha Light's Night.
7. Fees: GBP£200 (includes 4 days 3 nights of accommodation and catering)

9. Information and Application Form: Please obtain from European Fo Guang Shan Temples
10. Special Notice:
(1) Please ensure to have valid UK Entry Visa, if you are not a European Union Passport Holder.
(2) Please ensure to bring waterproof and warm clothing and footwear.
(3) Please bring sleeping bag if you require accommodation in London Fo Guang Shan Temple. Prior arrangement required and there is limited availability.
11. Post-Camp Tour: (with Additional Fees)
(1) 1 Day Tour (10 April 2010): Cambridge or Oxford
(2) 2 Days Tour (10-11 April 2010): Cambridge or Oxford and London City or Shakespeare’s Hometown
Note:
1. Please arrive at London Gatwick Airport on/before 10:30am, or London FGS on/before 8am on 6 April, there will be transportation service to Sayers Croft Field Centre.
2. If you are leaving on 9 April, please book your return flight/train after 4pm, there will also be transportation service to the Gatwick Airport and London FGS.
3. English and Mandarin will be the official language used in this camp.
Post-Camp Tour Itinerary
10 April 2010 Choose one from Itinerary 1 or 2
1. One day in Cambridge
Take train to Cambridge from King’s Cross Station (Harry Potter 9 ¾ Platform). After the presentation by the local tour guide on the city of Cambridge in English, you are free to visit the various colleges (self paid) or go for punting. Take the train back to London in the evening.
You can visit King’s College, Trinity College or St. John’s College. Due to the Easter Holiday, the opening hours of the colleges might vary.
Transport Fee **: Return Train Ticket £28.30 or Bus £13.20
2. One day in Oxford
Take bus to Oxford from London. On arrival, visit Oxford University. After the presentation by the local tour guide on the city of Oxford, you are free to explore the city on your own. You can visit Bodlien Library (self paid) to have an understanding of how Oxford University manage the huge amount of books and the underground tunnel system built for this purpose. 11 April 2010 – Choose one from Itinerary 3 or 4
3. One day in London (plus British Museum)
Walk to British Museum in the morning and have a guided tour of the museum accompanied by the tour guide. Take an underground train to visit Buckingham Palace, London Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, The Horse guards at White Hall, No.10, Downing Street, Westminster Abbey and other major tourist spots. (In order to view “the change of guards”, the actual date will be decided in February)
Transport Fee *: 1 Day Pass £7.30
4. Shakespeare’s Hometown
To visit the birthplace of Shakespeare, the renowned English playwright. The town is full of Tudor architectures of the 16th Century and also of the style and atmosphere of a traditional English town. Besides visiting Shakespeare’s birthplace, you can also visit the houses of his son-in-law and grandson-in-law to see the middleclass lifestyle of the 16th Century. Can also visit the Globe Theatre by the River Avon, the venue of Shakespeare’s plays.
Transport Fee *: Return Train Ticket £50 or Coach £20* (will cancel if less then 30 people)
Note:
1. Tickets and meals at your own cost.
2. The above transport fee* are the UK charges, if there are enough 30 people in a group to rent a bus, the bus fee will be lower than £30, not included Tour Guide’s fee.
3. Since the UK public transport fees will be adjusted in February, if necessary, the fees for the tours will be revised accordingly.
4. If you want to visit different parts of England on your own, please note that train tickets should be purchased two weeks in advance of the date of travel, otherwise it is very expensive.
